- Aug 14: The Basis DSP, an ad buying platform, has announced a partnership with Barometer to offer brand-suitability scores on an episode-by-episode basis. The company claims that this is "podcast advertising catching up with the controls advertisers expect from more mature programmatic channels". Barometer announced episode-level context in March with AdsWizz, and with Acast in January.
- Mar 25: Brand suitability company Barometer and podcast adtech company AdsWizz have announced an integration to help advertisers understand the context of podcasts on an episode-by-episode basis.
- Jan 22: Acast has worked with Barometer to launch pre-bid targeting at the episode level for the first time. It gives brands automated, granular control over where their ads appear before a buy is made.
- Dec 10, 2025: Global investment in podcasting is not matched to consumption, according to a new study today from NumberEight. The research shows that the US leads spend, while Australia, Germany and France are expansion opportunities for buyers looking for incremental reach. The data shows differences in culture and personas, and shows additional data to help buyers scale. The work was done in collaboration with Barometer, AdsWizz, and Sounds Profitable.
- Aug 7, 2024: Data that Podnews published a year ago suggested that some brand safety tools incorrectly categorise Black-hosted podcasts as risky, because of a lack of nuance and cultural understanding. Today, Barometer and DCP have partnered to create the Black Podcast Coalition - a collective of influential Black networks and shows. Shows will be tracked and certified for brand safety. The group suggests that these shows “are actually more suitable and less potentially risky than the average show in the Edison top 50.”
