- Jan 21: The Rest is History is to launch a history festival in London's Hampton Court. The festival, which will welcome thousands of members each day, will be designed to help fans meet each other, and timed so that "the tribe can gather". The show is run by Goalhanger.
- Jan 19: UK podcast company Goalhanger has announced it has more than 250,000 paid subscribers. Each paid subscriber pays on average £6 a month or £60 a year (US $8 / $80), suggesting that the company earns around $20mn a year from paid subscribers.
- Jan 13: Goalhanger has made three senior leadership hires. Chloe Straw joins as Director of Operations; she was formerly at industry trade body AudioUK. Emily Kent Smith joins from The Sunday Times as Editorial Director; and Andy Hodgson is the new Chief Financial Officer. The company is now delivering over 70 million full-episode streams monthly.
- Jan 7: Goalhanger show The Rest is Football has acquired the rights for the Premier League video archive, for all matches until the end of last season. A new show, "Premier League Greats: The Moments That Made Them", is now appearing within The Rest is Football feeds. The company says: "viewers watching on Spotify Video or YouTube (and socials) will be able to see the iconic match footage as those moments are discussed on screen. Audio listeners will still receive the full episode as usual." Last month we reported that the show will be on Netflix during the World Cup as a daily show.
- Dec 10, 2025: UK podcast company Goalhanger filed its accounts for the seven months of June-Dec 2024 (the company has changed its financial year). These are a UK legal requirement but don’t tell us much, since you don’t have to show profit and loss for this type of company. But - spoiler - it’s in profit; it ended Dec 2024 with just over £5mn (USD $6.7mn) in the bank. In May, it had £2.7mn.
