About Persephonica
Persephonica is an award-winning production company with a track record of creating hugely successful, genre-defining podcasts, and working with the world’s biggest talent. The Sheffield-based outfit created the BBC Sounds podcast Miss Me?, hosted by Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver, the internationally-successful Dua Lipa: At Your Service, the Westminster essential Political Currency with George Osbounre and Ed Balls and the UK’s biggest daily podcast, The News Agents, with Global.
The company recently appointed the former BBC Radio 1 producer, Fiona Hanlon, as Managing Director. Fiona is responsible for growing the company’s impressive entertainment slate. This ambitious new show with Zoe Ball and Jo Whiley is her first signing for Persephonica.

- Aug 28: It was the prestigious Edinburgh TV Awards last night - and, for the first time, there was a Best Visualised Podcast category. Congratulations to Persephonica, who won the award with viral comedy sports show Game’s Gone: The Steve Bracknall Podcast. - Aug 3: Persephonica has signed a exclusive sales partnership with Acast. The deal means that Acast Studios London will be used for recording some of the company's shows.
- Jul 6: The British Podcast Awards 2026 released its longlist - recognising 409 entrants across 27 categories. Almost half the longlist are claimed to be independent titles and talent. We see at least 53 nominations for the BBC, eleven for Audible, eight for Audio Always, Platform Media and Bauer Media, seven for Persephonica and Fun Kids, five for Rethink Audio, Sky News, Bloomberg and History Hit, four for Novel and Podmasters, three for Sony and Avalon. One notable indie who has a nomination: the 19 year-old Answer Me This!. Goalhanger, the UK's largest independent podcast company, did not enter; Global also appears not to have put their shows forward.
- Jun 24: One of the organisers, Dino Sophos of Persephonica, spoke to UK MPs on the Culture, Media and Sports Committee about why some of the BBC's podcasts are now available on YouTube. ("Probably a little bit late", he says).
- May 6: Bad Chat with Greg James and Alice Levine is brand new from Persephonica - and already in the charts. It's a club for the pair (and their listeners) to share the 'best-worst' parts of the week; shame spirals, existential crises, petty grievances, mild injustices — and this is just Greg's morning.
