- Jul 6: The British Podcast Awards 2026 released its longlist - recognising 409 entrants across 27 categories. Almost half the longlist are claimed to be independent titles and talent. We see at least 53 nominations for the BBC, eleven for Audible, eight for Audio Always, Platform Media and Bauer Media, seven for Persephonica and Fun Kids, five for Rethink Audio, Sky News, Bloomberg and History Hit, four for Novel and Podmasters, three for Sony and Avalon. One notable indie who has a nomination: the 19 year-old Answer Me This!. Goalhanger, the UK's largest independent podcast company, did not enter; Global also appears not to have put their shows forward.

- Mar 5: Back in November, former England rugby star and TV personality Joe Marler launched a new podcast with Platform Media. Joe Marler Will See You Now has shared some consumption data - it’s achieved 16 million short-form social views in the past seven days alone, and one clip has been seen more than 25 million times in total. On YouTube, 40% of all viewers are watching on their television screens.
- Feb 27: Shows going video: Platform Media and Ranga Bee has announced that its Wolf & Owl podcast will become video first; the show, with Tom Davis and Romesh Ranganathan, will be on YouTube and Spotify … After more than twelve years and 300 episodes, the Private Equity FunCast is now on YouTube and Spotify in video form. "Guarantee that you won't be able to get the theme song out of your head."
- Feb 16: In London, Platform Media has announced Rhyanna Coleman as the company's first Director of Strategy. She's previously worked with YMU and Spotify.
