- Mar 10: Podcast hosting company Podbean has abruptly pulled its dynamic ad insertion tool across the whole of Europe. No notice was given; the affected countries imply that there is a concern with GDPR compliance. The company launched PodAds in 2019. “We rely on dynamic insertion,” one customer told us, “and without prior warning, this has a huge impact on us”. The company told Podnews that the decision was "based on a combination of evolving global privacy regulations and a shift in our internal product focus."
- Jan 9: Podbean and The Daily Wire have both renewed IAB v2.2 certification. Audion, Mediastream and Podtrac are still on v2.1.

There were 1.5mn new podcast episodes in October. In terms of podcast hosts by episode share, 29.5% of them were hosted with Spotify; Spreaker is at #2 with 18.5%; and Buzzsprout is at #3 with 10%. In the top ten, heritage brands Podbean (#4) and Libsyn (now #9) posted their lowest-ever numbers for the fifth month in a row. Transistor overtook Libsyn to a record high; RSS

At #2, Spreaker jumped from 15.2% to a record 17.1% (they’re the company Inception Point AI uses for its wholly AI-generated shows); the #3 Buzzsprout saw a record share of 10%. Simplecast (#6), RSS

However elsewhere in the top ten, heritage brands Podbean (#4) and Libsyn (#8) posted their lowest-ever numbers. - Jul 3, 2025: The total number of new podcast episodes published in June was 4.7% fewer than in May on a normalised basis, says Livewire. Spotify for Creators saw a small decrease, but still retained its leading market share of 26.6% of new episodes. Spreaker (at 15%) and Buzzsprout (at 8.7%) saw increases in share, as did Podbean and Libsyn. Amazon Cloudfront still serves the majority of podcast episodes (now 60.79% of them).
