Latest news
- Oct 8: Podtrac released the September 2025 US rankings for publishers and podcasts. In the podcast ranking, The Charlie Kirk Show saw a rise from #34 to #6 (his fatal shooting was on Sep 10); SiriusXM’s Fantasy Footballers moved from #34 to #9 (the new NFL season kicked off on Sep 5); and Morbid jumped from #404 up to #11 (this is essentially “the highest new entry”, given the show shifted to SiriusXM on Sep 1 from Wondery, which isn’t a participating publisher). As ever, these rankers measure participating podcasters only.
- Sep 8: Podtrac also released its rankers for August 2025. Most publishers saw an increase in audience. Wondery isn’t a participating publisher.
- Sep 2: Livewire has published its graphs and data for the industry for August. There are no major changes for “podcast hosts by episode share”, though Libsyn has hit a low of 3% for the first time. For tracking services, Podtrac now measures a record 14.3% of all new episodes.
- Aug 29: Of note: the article (part of a “News Literacy Edition”) claims that NPR is the third-largest publisher in the US, citing Podtrac. Podtrac, though, measures participating publishers only.
- Aug 11: How’s Apple Podcasts doing vs Spotify? Earlier this year, Podtrac reported that Apple Podcasts had a 37.4% share in the US, with Spotify in third place after YouTube. Today’s data (sourced from OP3) shows us a similar story - Apple Podcasts in the lead, with Spotify second (OP3 can’t measure YouTube).
