- May 13, 2024: Last week, we carried YouGov’s data about the number of regular podcast listeners in countries round the world. South Africa’s figures (68%!) raised some eyebrows - as we highlighted, YouGov only measured internet users there. How many people in South Africa are actually connected to the internet? Just 13%, says A4AI. So, in reality, 9% of South Africans are regular podcast listeners, not 68%. (Also, YouGov might like to know that Argentina is not in Europe.)
- May 7, 2024: YouGov has released data showing the number of regular podcast listeners in countries around the world. The data suggests that 39% of US consumers listen to podcasts for more than an hour a week; that South Africa is the most popular country for podcasts at 68%, Saudi Arabia at 59%, and Indonesia at 57%. (Some countries, including South Africa, only surveyed internet users.)
