ABOUT ARK MEDIA Ark Media is a mission-driven podcast network exploring the big questions shaping Jewish life, Israel's future, and our rapidly changing world. Through high-impact original programming and conversations with thought leaders and decision-makers, Ark aims to build a global community grounded in curiosity, rigor, and meaningful dialogue.
We move fast, care deeply about the audience experience, and hold a high bar for editorial quality and storytelling. Our work sits at the intersection of journalism, analysis, and narrative audio.
ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Senior Producer to help lead Ark Media's podcast slate at a pivotal moment in our growth. Ark is home to Call Me Back, the biggest podcast in the Jewish world, and is building a broader slate of shows at the intersection of geopolitics, Israel, and Jewish life.
Our ambition is to help build the Jewish town square, a place for rigorous conversation, deep analysis, and meaningful engagement with the ideas shaping the world. Podcasts are a critical entry point into that ecosystem.
This is a senior role that combines editorial leadership, hands-on production, new-show development, team management, strong audio and video production skills, and a clear understanding of podcast performance.
You will help raise the bar across the full portfolio of shows. That includes overseeing production, shaping episodes, mentoring the content team, improving workflows, using data to optimize performance, and building the systems needed to scale.
Because we produce shows around the news cycle, including two recordings on Sundays, this role requires flexibility and comfort with a non-traditional schedule.
If you've thrived in live news, daily audio, or fast-moving current affairs production, you'll feel at home here.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead Show Quality and Performance
- Own the quality and performance of Ark shows
- Serve as a key decision-maker on day-to-day content across the portfolio
- Ensure every show meets a high bar for rigor, clarity, and storytelling
- Balance day-to-day production needs with longer-term strategy and development
- Use podcast performance data, audience behavior, and platform insights to evaluate what is working and optimize shows over time
Lead Production
- Oversee end-to-end production pipelines across all shows, from concept through final delivery
- Establish and refine production workflows, timelines, and standards
- Step into production as needed, including scripting, story editing, fact-checking, audio editing, video editing, directing recordings, and reviewing cuts
- Ensure consistency and quality across both audio and video outputs
Use Data to Improve Performance
- Monitor podcast performance across downloads, consumption, audience retention, video views, subscriber behavior, and other key metrics
- Translate performance data into practical editorial and production decisions
- Identify patterns in what drives audience growth, engagement, retention, and conversion
- Partner with leadership to evaluate show performance and recommend adjustments to formats, topics, pacing, packaging, and publishing strategy
- Build a shared understanding across the team of what success looks like and how performance is measured
Build and Develop the Team
- Manage and mentor producers, a production manager, and audio/video editors
- Provide clear, actionable feedback that improves both the work and the people doing it
- Help hire and onboard new team members as the organization grows
- Create a culture of high standards, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Develop New Shows and Talent
- Generate and develop new show ideas from concept through launch
- Identify, recruit, and work with talent, including hosts, contributors, and partners
- Shape formats, editorial POVs, and storytelling approaches for new and existing shows
- Pilot and iterate quickly, with a focus on building repeatable formats
Build the System
- Create a well-oiled production and development engine that can scale
- Improve how ideas are generated, evaluated, and launched
- Ensure clarity around roles, responsibilities, and processes across the team
- Manage the production manager responsible for day-to-day production calendars, workflows, handoffs, and execution
- Partner with leadership on priorities, resourcing, and long-term planning
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- The full slate is owned and operated without day-to-day involvement from the CEO
- 1 new show is launched and positioned for growth
- A high-functioning production and development system is in place, with clear workflows, strong team ownership, built-in redundancies, and consistent output
- The production manager, producers, and editors have clear direction, strong feedback, and the support needed to do their best work
- Audio and video outputs are consistently strong, timely, and aligned with Ark's editorial standards
WHO YOU ARE
- A player-coach who is equally comfortable shaping a script, directing a session, jumping into an edit, or leading a team
- A storyteller with a strong command of narrative structure and a sharp instinct for making complex, high-stakes topics clear, compelling, and emotionally resonant
- A strong editorial voice with excellent judgment, especially in news, geopolitics, and current affairs
- Deeply experienced in audio storytelling, with a clear point of view on what makes content compelling
- Experienced in managing and mentoring producers and creative teams
- Able to operate in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and limited resources
- Comfortable working with high-profile or opinionated hosts and able to both support and push them
- Highly organized and operationally strong, with the ability to build systems that scale
- Comfortable using podcast metrics and audience insights to improve performance without letting data flatten editorial judgment or creative ambition
- Curious, rigorous, and detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and clarity
- You have a strong ownership mindset and a can-do attitude. You see gaps and fill them. If you default to "that's not my job," this is not the right role.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-8+ years of experience in podcasting or audio production required, ideally within journalism or related media
- Proven experience producing or overseeing high-quality audio content
- Strong background in news, geopolitics, or current affairs
- Experience managing teams and overseeing multiple projects at once
- Track record of developing and launching new shows or formats
- Strong communication and feedback skills
- Strong, hands-on audio and video editing skills, with the ability to step into edits when needed
- Familiarity with podcast analytics, audience behavior, and performance metrics across audio and video platforms
MISSION ALIGNMENT This role requires strong alignment with Ark Media's mission and subject matter. You should have a deep interest in Jewish life, Israel, and global affairs, and a desire to contribute to thoughtful, rigorous public conversation.
Ark is a mission-driven but not monolithic organization. We value intellectual curiosity, nuance, and civil debate, and our team reflects a range of perspectives. Success in this role requires engaging seriously with the subject matter while helping create space for a diversity of views.
