Director of Education
A full time position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at CitizenRacecar.
Salary: $80,000 (yearly rate) plus health insurance reimbursement and sales commission
CitizenRacecar is an industry-leading company that has been producing word-class branded podcast series since 2012. In 2022, we were proud to create a unique education program—Afterschool Podcasting—where we send instructors into out-of-school-time programs to teach kids in 4th through 12th grades how to produce their own audio podcasts.
We’re looking for an exceptional New York City-based educator and administrator with experience in professional audio production and a desire to chart the future of media education to take over leadership of this program and help it grow.
Duties include:
- Quickly becoming expert in our existing curriculum and training and supervising the team of coaches who are delivering it in dozens of schools around New York City and in a pilot program in Frederick, Maryland
- Managing all scheduling and logistics for this team
- Liaising with the program’s client organizations and being their primary point of contact
- Supervising quality control and publication of finished student work, in collaboration with CitizenRacecar’s post-production team
- Working to continually improve the curriculum and reconfigure it to meet the needs of new clients
- Recruiting, onboarding, and training new coaches as needed
- Supporting our ambition to expand Afterschool Podcasting to other cities around the country by collaborating with other members of the CitizenRacecar team to promote the program and secure new client relationships. Activities include industry networking, speaking and leading workshops, and generally displaying thought leadership in OOST education
This position is full time, mostly remote, but with frequent in-person supervision, recruitment, and training at various program locations, and periodic travel to promotional and professional development events. Starting salary: $80,000/year plus health insurance reimbursement and sales commission.
To be considered, candidates must:
- Have extensive experience in education, management, and professional podcasting and/or talk radio production
- Be either a US citizen or a legal long-term resident with green card and social security number
- Live in New York City or a closely surrounding suburb
- Be willing to travel
- Pass New York City Dept. of Education and Dept. of Health background checks
- Be available to begin work in late April or early May 2025
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for the intersections of media and education and a creative vision for the future of the program.
