Director, Human Resources
A full time position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at Lemonada Media.
Salary range: $70,000 to $80,000 (yearly rate) - subject to experience
Lemonada Media is seeking a full-time, results-focused human resources leader. The Director, Human Resources will manage our network’s human resources function and people operations. The Director, Human Resources reports to Senior Vice President, Human Resources & Business Affairs.
Roles and Responsibilities
Hiring, Onboarding, and Offboarding
- Manage the hiring process from beginning to end, building diverse talent pipelines, and collaborating with hiring managers to fill all open roles
- Create employee and contractor offer letters
- Lead the onboarding process for new hires and collaborate with hiring managers to ensure strong, role-specific onboarding
- Lead the offboarding process for transitioning staff members and ensure completion of all offboarding steps with cross-functional colleagues
Performance Management
- Manage the annual performance review cycle
- Communicate expectations and guidance for annual performance reviews with team members and managers
- Equip team members and managers to participate in annual performance reviews
- Manage external professional development requests
- Work with leadership on annual compensation reviews
Compensation, Benefits & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws for remote employees
- Oversee annual benefits renewal process and ongoing benefits administration and filing
- Maintain and evolve HR policies and employee handbook to reflect company values and best practices
- Support annual mandated training for managers and team members
- Lead administration of all benefits programs including: conducting reviews of existing benefits, seeking annual competitive quotes, staying abreast of changes in legal requirements, and overall maintaining competitive benefits packages for employees and the company
- Manage all internal and external aspects of all benefits programs including: parental leave, 401k, FSA/HSA, short-term disability
- Manage all aspects of compensation and payroll
- Work closely with Finance Team on People-related budget and expenditures, for both employees and contractors
People Operations & HR Systems
Manage Justworks (Lemonada’s PEO) and other systems supporting employee data, reporting, and engagement Track and implement policy updates from Justworks Oversee day-to-day HR operations including employee relations, documentation, and audits Serve as a trusted resource for team members on HR questions and concerns Complete additional HR-related tasks as relevant
Required Experience and Competencies
- 7+ years of HR experience, including at the Director level
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Deep understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and organizational development
- Proven ability to lead through influence and build trust across all levels of a company
- Experience with HRIS management, benefits platforms, and remote team tools
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Highly organized and ability to prioritize with an exceptional ability to manage multiple work streams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Data-driven decision-making with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Applications
Preferred Experience and Competencies
- Experience in a creative, podcast, media, entertainment, or startup environment preferred
- SHRM or HRCI certification
- Experience working remotely

Employment Logistics
This position is full-time. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience. Desired Start Date: September 2025
Salary: $70,000-$88,000 depending on experience
Location: Remote. Some travel required.
