1619: The College Edition

A podcast from Howard University

“1619: The College Edition” is a dynamic podcast series where Howard University students apply their own unique lens to what they learned from studying the 1619 Project and make surprising, compelling and critical connections to the ways that slavery still impacts their lives and ours. Under the instruction of Professor Nikole Hannah-Jones, these Howard students are never shy of a hot take. The series unpacks the flair of fashion to the beautiful spectrum of melanin, and even the critical and urgent discussions about the safety of Black queer lives. It’s a mix of history, culture, and contemporary issues, all seen through the eyes of HBCU students who aren’t afraid to dig deep and speak out. Tune in as these Howard voices dive into how their present is intertwined with a past that still echoes today, all with a dash of humor, a lot of heart, and a thirst for truth.Lead Professor: Nikole Hannah-JonesTeaching Assistant: Deanna Hayden Student Showrunners: Julia Jones and Nairobi ToombsSound Engineer: Enoch Kim Instructional Producer: Enrico Benjamin Cover Art Design: Jarrod Mayes, Ghost Note Agency Spotify Team: Christabel Nsiah-Buadi and Kristin Jarrett
