Intime / Extime: Amiel, 200 ans d'histoire du journal intime

À l’occasion du bicentenaire de la naissance d’H.-F. Amiel, la Bibliothèque de Genève (Suisse) conte une histoire de l’écriture intime. Professeur de littérature et de philosophie, Henri-Frédéric Amiel (1821-1881) est une figure intellectuelle genevoise et l’un des pionniers de l’écriture intime. À sa mort, il laisse un monumental journal de 17000 pages tenu durant plus de 40 ans conservé aujourd’hui par la Bibliothèque. Document patrimonial d’exception et objet culturel unique, le « Journal » est un instrument clé pour appréhender l’histoire genevoise du XIXe siècle. Surtout, le « Journal » nous offre un prisme pour explorer les pratiques contemporaines d’expression de soi. À l’ère numérique, les identités s’inventent, façonnant un moi corrigé des imperfections. L’intime devient extime.
