I Det sidste måltid inviterer Lærke Kløvedal en gæst til det måltid, de ville vælge som deres sidste. Menuen er altid gæstens eget valg, ofte fyldt med retter, der vækker barndomsminder eller har en helt særlig betydning. Mens retterne serveres af kokken Luna, dykker Lærke og gæsten ned i livets store øjeblikke og små detaljer og forsøger at indkredse, hvad der skal udgøre gæstens eftermæle, og hvad der skal stå i deres nekrolog.
