Wat zou jij doen als iemand van wie je houdt wordt afgepakt? Als de onderwereld vol drugs en geweld bij jouw familie op de stoep staat? Het overkomt Koen en Annemarie Meesters uit Groningen.
Hun vader Gerard wordt in 2002 geliquideerd in de deuropening van zijn huis. Acht kogels maken een einde aan het leven van de docent maatschappijleer. Een kille afrekening door een internationaal drugskartel. Gerard is onschuldig. Zijn vrouw en kinderen blijven achter.
De politie denkt al snel te weten wie de opdrachtgever is. Maar tot een rechtszaak komt het niet. Tot grote frustratie van kinderen Koen en Annemarie. Al ruim 20 jaar strijden zij voor gerechtigheid.
