En 1988, Walter McMillian, un ouvrier africain-américain, a été jugé coupable du meurtre d’une jeune femme blanche, Ronda Morrisson, et condamné à la peine de mort. Au début des années 90, il croise la route d’un jeune avocat diplômé de Harvard, Bryan Stevenson, défenseur des condamnés à tort, fraîchement installé dans l’Alabama. Leur histoire a inspiré un long-métrage, La voie de la justice, en salle ce 29 janvier.
