Seattle WA, USA—Skylark Media, an entertainment network from the Gnomish Hat creative brand producing interactive mysteries and podcasts including Behind True Crime and Euphomet, welcomes its first audio drama, Blackwood. Premiering in time for Halloween, on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 and set in the fictional town of Blackwood, Connecticut, the interactive horror experience is produced in partnership with Wondery and April Lamb, producer of Sandra podcast starring Kristen Wiig, Alia Shawkat & Ethan Hawke and Homecoming.

Five years ago, Molly Weaver, Bryan Anderson, and Nathan Howell started a podcast focused on the local legend of a monster called The Blackwood Bugman. Quickly, the investigation grows out of their control, as they discover that, not only are the legends seemingly true, many people in Blackwood have turned up dead or disappeared without a trace. Worse, there may be a reason why no one has ever uncovered the truth before. Someone is watching them, willing to do whatever it takes to keep the secret.

“We enjoy creating suspenseful and engaging content for horror, sci-fi and true-crime enthusiasts who are hungry for mystery and investigative narratives,”said Ryan Hogan, co-founder and CEO of Skylark Media & Gnomish Hat. “Blackwood, like many other audio dramas have in our podcast portfolio, will be a way to entertain audiences through interactive listening on-demand.”

Blackwood is a fictional story about three teenagers uncovering a conspiracy, and the ever-present threat presented by people in power, who work secretly to control everything they can. It’s a story about learning the monster hiding in the shadows is far scarier than you ever expected.

“As a producer of many hit true crime podcasts including Dr. Death and Dirty John, Wondery is thrilled to be partnering with Hunt a Killer on this innovative audio drama,” said Founder, Hernan Lopez.

Written by Will Rogers, Lead Writer of Skylark’s fictional podcasts division and directed by Mark Freiburger, known for Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), Elsewhere and Jimmy (2013), the new audio drama is a twist on found footage movies like The Blair Witch Project and horror adventure series like Stranger Things. The cast and crew include a lineup of current film actors including Ian Colletti as Bryan Anderson, currently stars on the AMC’s Preacher, Ken Kirby as David Acosta, currently starring on the Freeform show Good Trouble, Bekka Walker as Molly Weaver, known for Hollow Body (2018) and Cameron Johnson as Nathan Howell, known for Star Light (2018), The Wrong Crush (2017) and The Mick (2017).

“I’ve always been in love with mysteries, whodunnits, and folklore. With Blackwood I hope to have created a fun show about kids getting in over their heads as they find out that the truth is stranger than fiction. Hearing our amazing performers bring the characters to life is an incredible feeling, and with April and Mark behind the wheel, I know Blackwood can go places,” said Will Rogers, writer of Blackwood podcast.

The first two episodes Blackwood will be available for download on October 24, 2018 on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Skylark Media online, and all major podcast apps. Skylark has also produced numerous pieces of bonus content, including puzzles and in-universe newspaper articles, which listeners can found at http://SkylarkMedia.com.
