Getting Back There From Here launches - an audio fiction series from Neil Cargill

Writer / Director Neil Cargill’s latest audio fiction series is now available to stream for free online via Radiophonica and all major podcast sources.
GETTING BACK THERE FROM HERE is described as “a mesmerising mosaic of tales that combine to make gripping audio”. The story, which was inspired by real encounters deep in off-grid America, follows a volatile young runaway called Kat who is being led astray by her inner voice. But that voice belongs to a complete stranger, an eccentric old man of the road she calls Feral who confuses in her mind what is real and imagined, seen and remembered.
The thing is, Feral also hears voices - and one of them turns out to be yours.
The unfolding tale sheds light on the experience of audio pareidolia – when everyday sounds are heard as words or music – and ill-informed perception of hearing voices. Once regarded as the gift of visionaries or creative and influential people, auditory hallucinations are now commonly portrayed in the media as a dangerous symptom to be suppressed. As Kat travels ever deeper into both the landscape and her memories, she begins to unravel the reason both why she hears the voice, and why she has faced prejudice and persecution.
Getting Back There From Here follows the success of Neil Cargill’s online audio drama series AKIHA DEN DEN, featuring Ian McDiarmid and Joy McAvoy, which was hailed by Electronic Music magazine as “a truly inventive sonic inferno”. This latest production was recorded remotely in several countries, coordinated from Radiophonica’s base in North East Scotland and introduces Kenyan-Italian actor SAMYA DE MEO as the narrator and central character Kat, pictured above.
