Goalhanger Unveils Spotify Campaign Alongside Bold Rebrand

Press Release · London, UK · via Goalhanger ·

Today, Goalhanger, the largest independent podcast company outside the US, unveiled its first-ever multichannel advertising campaign in partnership with Spotify. The campaign invites audiences to explore Goalhanger’s shows on Spotify and coincides with a brand refresh, featuring the debut of a new logo.

The campaign presents nine unique scenes, each featuring diverse individuals immersed in their favourite Goalhanger shows. Hosts appear alongside them, blending into everyday settings—whether someone is making tea, relaxing on a sofa, or sitting on a park bench. This visual storytelling brings the podcast-listening experience to life, emphasising Spotify as the place to enjoy these shows.

Examples include The Rest Is Politics, with hosts Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart discussing foreign policy, The Rest Is History, with Dominic Sandbrook and Tom Holland debating the importance of the crossing of the Rubicon; or The Rest Is Football, featuring Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Micah Richards breaking down a top-tier goal—all creating an experience where the listener feels as though they’re in the room with their favourite hosts.

Scripted by Joel Emery, the lead writer of Goalhanger’s audio drama Sherlock & Co., each scene is cleverly interconnected. Every segment ends with a word or phrase that seamlessly links to the next, creating a captivating chain-reaction effect across the campaign. Alongside the campaign, Goalhanger has launched a brand-new logo and style guide, highlighting a fresh identity for the company. The classic black logo has been replaced with a bold, modern blue design, which will be reflected in all Goalhanger assets, from logos across our shows to email signatures.

The ads will run across social media and digital platforms, with a separate creative campaign featured on major out-of-home screens for the remainder of 2024. Notable placements include Leicester Square, Eat Street (Westfield London), and Meridian Steps (Westfield Stratford City), further amplifying the real-world presence of Goalhanger shows.

Tom Whiter, Head of Content at Goalhanger, said: “This campaign is a fantastic way to showcase the many exciting projects we’ve been working on— from revitalising our brand to bringing our hosts together as one unified Goalhanger team and giving audiences a chance to see as well as them. I’m especially proud of how we’ve highlighted the incredible creative talent within Goalhanger— from scriptwriting and filming to editing and marketing— while leveraging our partnership with Spotify to reach new listeners for our outstanding lineup of shows. We’re excited to build on this momentum in 2025, continuing to craft exceptional content for our listeners and collaborating with brands to bring even more ambitious ideas to life.”

Elaine Seow, Marketing Manager at Spotify added: “Goalhanger has been enjoying an incredible year, and its stable of shows will no doubt feature high in plenty of Spotify users’ end-of-year Wrapped lists. This campaign is a perfect opportunity to take a moment to celebrate these shows and the hosts who are bringing so much enjoyment to people’s lives.”

The campaign’s podcasts include The Rest Is Politics, The Rest Is Politics: US, The Rest Is History, The Rest Is Football, The Rest Is Entertainment, The Rest Is Money, Empire, We Have Ways Of Making You Talk & Sherlock & Co.
