History, Uncensored: Bold New Podcast Turns the Past on Its Head
Forget dusty books and droning documentaries - history just got a radical rebrand.
Storyteller and cultural innovator Sarah Dowd has officially launched History FFS (“History for F***'s Sake”), a daring new podcast that smashes through stereotypes, blends comedy and culture and makes the past wildly relevant for today.
Hosted weekly by Dowd, **History For F***’s Sake explores** the surprising ways our past shows up in art, theatre, film, and everyday life - making it relatable, human, and a little bit irreverent.
‘History isn’t boring - it’s our story,’ says Dowd. “It’s in the songs we sing, the plays we perform, the films we binge. This podcast is for anyone who’s ever thought history wasn’t for them. It’s about uncovering the joy, drama, and humour in the past - and connecting it to the culture we’re creating today. And I’m on a mission. To make as many people as possible love history. Our history. Your history.’
**History For F***’s Sake** is designed for artists, writers, performers, and culture and history lovers, as well as anyone seeking a more human, entertaining way to engage with our past and our past-times. The show aims to build a broad community of listeners - and to spark curiosity about the past in surprising, joyful ways.
If You Missed the Party…
Last week, Dowd and an audience of culture-lovers, creatives, and historians gathered online for a raucous virtual launch preview party complete with tears, toasts, unexpected debates, and as Sarah said; ‘People think history belongs to museums, but it actually belongs to us - it’s in how we love, argue, dress, create, perform. HISTORYFFS is about reclaiming that - our shared culture as a living, breathing thing.”
