Puck and Audacy Podcasts to launch new podcast with John Heilemann

Press Release · New York, NY, USA ·

Puck, the innovative new media company focused on putting journalists at the center of its business model, announced the launch of a new podcast hosted by John Heilemann, Puck’s Chief Political Columnist and newest partner. The podcast, entitled Impolitic with John Heilemann, is in partnership with leading premium podcast network Audacy Podcasts and will publish new episodes every Tuesday and Friday starting on June 4.

Heilemann’s new podcast comes on the heels of the launch last month of his weekly Puck column, also named Impolitic, which anchors a new Sunday edition of the company’s political franchise, The Best & The Brightest. The podcast is a retooled, rebranded, and expanded version of Heilemann’s previous hit podcast, Hell & High Water, in which the veteran magazine and television journalist (MSNBC, Showtime’s The Circus) and bestselling author (Game Change, Double Down) interviewed newsmakers from the worlds of politics and culture: from former Attorney General Eric Holder and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki to renowned political strategists (David Axelrod, Mike Murphy, James Carville), legal analysts (George Conway, Neal Katyal, Laurence Tribe), and historians (Jon Meacham, Michael Beschloss, Ken Burns); and from celebrated actors (Jeremy Allen White, Brian Cox, Sean Penn), musicians (Killer Mike, Stevie Van Zandt, Tenacious D), and comics (Hasan Minhaj, Kamau Bell, Jordan Klepper) to agenda-shaping reporter-authors (Kara Swisher, Maggie Haberman), commentators (Rich Eisen, Andrew Ross Sorkin), and TV personalities (Nicolle Wallace, Joe Scarborough).

“John is a generational talent with a cultural lexicon and Rolodex that spans all of Puck’s power corridors,” said Jon Kelly, Co-Founder of Puck. “He’s fluent not only with elected officials and campaign gurus but acclaimed show-runners and rock stars, Wall Street titans and Silicon Valley disruptors, and every kind of troublemaker in between. I’m excited to help bring into the world a show that I can’t wait to listen to, myself.”

“I’m beyond psyched about being back at the mic for this expansion of the Impolitic brand and revival of Hell & High Water,” said John Heilemann, Puck’s Chief Political Columnist. “In our fractured, atomized, balkanized, polarized, deeply and often bitterly divided social and political landscape, it’s a rare breed of public figure that has the ability to shape and shift the culture—and those are the folks we’re going to talking to on Impolitic about the most pressing issues and controversies of our time."

“We couldn’t be more excited to expand our thriving Puck slate with ‘Impolitic’ especially in this election year,” said Jenna Weiss-Berman, EVP, Audacy Podcasts. “John is a singular political journalist whose incisive and insightful analysis and reporting will keep listeners informed leading up to November and beyond.”

Impolitic with John Heilemann will be Puck’s sixth podcast and fourth with Audacy. The company recently launched Lauren Sherman’s Fashion People to rave reviews. It also co-produces The Powers That Be Daily, The Town, and Somebody’s Gotta Win. Last year it released About a Boy: The Story of Vladimir Putin. Puck podcasts can be found on their website, the Audacy app, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and everywhere podcasts are available. With industry-leading coverage across Wall Street, Washington, the media, the fashion industry and Hollywood, Puck has become an obsession for an extremely influential audience. The company offers access to the seemingly inaccessible—the story behind the story, the plot that only insiders know, without partisan bias and often with a dose of mirth. Nearly half of subscribers are C-Suite or Senior Executives, including about a third of the C.E.O.s on the Fortune 100 and nearly three quarters of Fortune 50 Leadership executive teams.
