Voting is open for Ireland’s favourite podcast! Whether it’s a Podcast ranking Ireland’s best crisps or a few local legends recording in their living room, no series is too small for glory. The Irish Podcast Awards 2022 category nominees have been announced, but there’s one last podcast to crown on the night – the one chosen by the listeners! This year there will be a Listeners’ Choice category – a free public vote – where listeners can vote for any Irish podcast deserving of the crown. Over 10,000 votes have been cast within 48 hours of announcing! Vote here until Sunday 11th September.

In 2021, Acast Ireland reported over 7.5m podcast listens every month across the country. Ireland is a nation of listeners, perfectly complemented by our reputation as a nation of talkers. Podcasting is one of the only industries that thrive off the ‘Gift of the Gab’, making Ireland a hotspot for fresh talent within the scene.

Matt Deegan from The Irish Podcast Awards says:

“At the end of the day, the listener knows best, and we’re excited to discover some exciting new talent that wasn’t eligible for this year’s Awards. The world of Podcasts is vast, and this category allows us to see what gems the algorithm left behind.”

Voting opened earlier this week, and over 150 Podcasts have already been nominated. Listeners can search and nominate their favourite podcast here until the closing date (Sunday 11th September 2022 at midnight). There’s one vote per email address. Voters must click the email confirmation to make sure their vote counts!

The Irish Podcast Awards pride themselves on recognising fresh talent in an industry that constantly changes and evolves. The 2022 nominations are led by Blindboy Boatclub, David McWilliams, and The Good Glow, with four nominations each. Close behind them is The Tommy, Hector and Laurita Podcastand true crime documentary The Witness, with three nominations each. This year’s ceremony will be held in Dublin on the 16th of September 2022, with tickets on sale soon.
