Introducing News Club: The Squiz's Latest Venture in Australian Short-Form News Content

Press Release · via Squiz Media ·

Squiz Media, well known for setting the benchmark in Australia for short-form news content, proudly unveils its latest initiative, News Club. It is set to redefine the way Australians engage with news following its launch on 13 February.

Unlike the daily news offerings The Squiz Today, News Club will be “the place to go for conversations about the news weekly”. Hosted by Squiz founder Claire Kimball and Squiz Today co-creator/Commercial Director Kate Watson, there will be a focus on a single news topic each week across podcast, newsletter and social media, placing the audience at the heart of the experience each week.

News Club starts off each week with a newsletter and social media posts, giving the audience the opportunity to ask questions about specific topics, followed by a curation of essential information from across a range of credible sources. We invite our audience to shape and actively participate in the conversation. We think of it as your favourite book club - but for the news. "Seven years into providing our unique independent and agenda-free offerings that are designed to keep busy people - particularly women - across the news, News Club is a natural next step for The Squiz.

“Our audience has told us they want more news from us - and more opportunities to engage with the Squiz team. We’ll do that, and lean into the things we do well, curate the news, declutter the experience, and do it with no agenda to sway opinion. We don’t tell Squizers what to think, but we’ll equip them with what they need to come to an informed opinion," Kimball said.

Watson said: "With over a million monthly podcast listeners and over 60,000 dedicated newsletter subscribers, we are already a news destination for so many busy people. What News Club will do is extend upon that and importantly give our advertisers more options to connect with our audience in a meaningful way”, Watson said.
