Introducing SHE MD: a women’s health advocacy podcast

Press Release · Los Angeles, CA, USA · via Dear Media ·

Today SHE MD launches, a one-of-a-kind weekly podcast dedicated to women’s health advocacy, hosted by former fashion designer and entrepreneur Mary Alice Haney and leading board-certified OBGYN to the stars and expert in PCOS/endometriosis, Dr Thais Aliabadi, lovingly known by her patients as “Dr. A.” SHE MD launches in partnership with Dear Media, the powerhouse female focused media company best known for catapulting talent and creators to new heights through audio.

Standing for Strong, Healthy and Empowered, the goal behind SHE MD is to empower women with the knowledge and tools to advocate for their own health, especially around oft-ignored yet critical topics like PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, hormone imbalance and more. The podcast will feature some of the most notable and powerful women in our world today, ranging from Grammy-award winning artist SZA, TV personality Olivia Culpo, and celebrated comedian and actor Tiffany Haddish, as well as top medical experts like women’s brain health expert Dr. Kellyann Niotis, menopause advocate Dr. Mary Claire Haver, and anti-aging expert Dr. Dominique Fradin-Reid. Future guests include other patients of Dr. Aliabadi’s, such as Rihanna and Khloe Kardashian, amongst others.

SHE MD is a fully female-founded and female funded venture, the first of several to come from Haney and Dr. Thais Aliabadi. The two long-time friends & colleagues will be launching a women’s health platform this summer that aims to empower women to be their own health advocates. The platform will focus on various key women’s health issues, and provide at-home testing, supplements and lifestyle programs .

The platform’s first initiative will center around polycystic ovarian syndrome, known as PCOS. A hormone disorder defined by a group of signs and symptoms, PCOS affects 7–10% of women of childbearing age and is the most common cause of infertility. In the United States, an estimated five to six million women have PCOS, yet it remains rarely discussed and reluctantly diagnosed.

Dr. Thais Aliabadi: “As one of the nation’s leading experts on PCOS, I want to provide a voice for women suffering in silence and arm them with the tools necessary to both understand and advocate for their health and wellbeing. Our podcast and platform will fill a much-needed void in women’s healthcare.”

Haney adds: “Even in 2024, progress for women’s health still has such a long way to go. Our goal with SHE MD and our overall platform is to accelerate that process, providing resources and insights for women to take full ownership of their health. We are creating a community that prioritizes awareness, access, and action for women globally. We are so excited to launch with Dear Media as our partner. We chose them because of their expertise in women’s content and support of female founders.”

“We are thrilled to work with Dr. Aliabadi and Mary Alice to bring SHE MD to our audience. Upon hearing the pitch, we knew Dear Media was the right home for the show,” said Paige Port, President of Dear Media. “Our audience is craving more content from experts in the health and wellness space, and this show brings that and more. We cannot wait for more women to learn from the decades of experience that Dr. A and Mary Alice bring to the conversation, and to feel empowered to advocate for their health and wellbeing.”
