Brussels, Belgium—On 21 April, 2020, Sonos launched Sonos Radio, a free, ad-supported streaming radio service, monetised by Targetspot’s digital audio advertising solutions. The new service includes more than 60,000 radio stations from multiple streaming partners, as well as original Sonos programming. With nearly half of all listening time on Sonos dedicated to radio, Sonos Radio delivers a new way to enjoy music, news, sports, and more alongside original programming.
With broadcast radio available globally, availability of Sonos’ original programming, Sonos Stations, started in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada and Australia. Sonos Stations are also available as of June 3 in France, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden and New Zealand. Additional countries will follow soon.
As listening in the home is on the rise, Sonos Radio offers an opportunity to reach an engaged in-home audience. Sonos Radio stations include thoughtful audio and in-app advertising with a high share of voice for brand partners, as part of certain partner stations and through select curated original programming.
The new Sonos Stations are hand-curated by Sonos DJs and artists. There are 30 stations available, including: Concert Hall, Country Outlaws, Hip Hop Archive, Kids Rock, and more. In technical terms, Sonos has partnered with Super Hi-Fi, whose technology provides artificial intelligence tools for digital music for the purpose of matching volume between tracks and commercials, fading between tracks, and the seamless integration of voice commentary.
In more than 10 million homes with more than 29 million devices around the world, Sonos customers are streaming audio throughout their home, sharing with others in their home. The demographic reach is broad and presents a unique opportunity for all brands and advertisers to share their message in a meaningful way. Targetspot will bring this audience to market both directly through its global sales force and programmatically.
Alexandre Saboundjian, CEO of AudioValley, says: “We are delighted to see Sonos Radio being rolled out in these six new countries. The monetisation of the Sonos radios by Targetspot will thus be significantly extended under our exclusive partnership. This new stage illustrates Targetspot’s unique international positioning and its technological edge with a solution that can absorb significant additional volumes without requiring major additional resources or investment. With this major partnership, the scalability of our development model really shows its worth.”
