Sound Media launches - a new podcast consultancy
This article is at least a year old
There’s a new company on the podcast scene: Sound Media. It launched this week, led by former radio programmer and experienced podcaster James Marriott.
Based in Sheffield - a growing hub of podcasting activity in the UK - Sound Media offer a wide range of services, from helping to strategise and launch a show, growth and development packages, to ongoing editing and production.
What’s unique about Sound Media is the four decades of professional broadcast experience within the ranks. The founder James’ CV includes roles in radio journalism, presenting and management - indeed he still does on-air freelance work for the BBC and Global brands including Heart, Capital and Smooth.
James said: “I really wanted to create something that laid bare our broadcast credentials. When I say we know audio inside out, I really mean in. I did my first radio show when I was 14. Audio is genuinely all I’ve really known.
“I’m passionate about working with our clients to make sure their sound is the very best it can be, but it’s so much more than that now - it’s about strategising a podcast to make sure it’s actually meeting its aims.”
James started podcasting in 2015 and after leaving full-time radio, joined Rebel Base Media where he worked for a year before going self-employed in 2020 and laying the foundations for Sound Media.
The team is completed by freelance Editor Ellie Codling, who has over 15 years of radio experience, and designer George Lodwick who produces jaw dropping graphics for clients.
