Starburns Audio announces new slate of audio projects

After the sudden passing of beloved Starburns Audio CEO Jason Smith on March 26th of this year, Land Romo (now CEO) and Brian Baldinger (director of development) had some big Crocs to fill. Jason would be happy to know that Starburns Audio continues to work through their grief, while still championing exciting, unique, and inclusive comedic voices, as he intended.

One of the projects Jason initiated comes from the brilliant and endearing polymath couple Patton Oswalt and Meredith Salenger, whose busy lifestyles necessitate largely text message based communication. In their new podcast Did You Get My Text? the pair use the scheduled time to actually discuss what they have been meaning to talk about. The listener can be a fly on the wall as they answer questions like what should be in their apocalyptic go-bags, the experience of tripping on acid during Bill Clinton’s inauguration, and which character from Platoon they resemble most. Executive Produced by Jason and Cliff Dorfman, and teased by Rolling Stone, DYGMT? premiered this week on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats channel 94 and and will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms starting Tuesday, June 15th.

Later in the summer sees Starburns ushering in the triumphant return of MATES, or Mike and Tom Eat Snacks, a brilliant snack review comedy show from Michael Ian Black and Tom Cavanagh. The show is primed for a July relaunch. Other upcoming projects include an exciting new show from Calum Worthy, and season two of the hilariously weird hit alt comedy from Christian Duguay, Valley Heat.

A core piece of SBA’s business is reliable ad sales, and SBA is fortunate to have the enthusiastic support of their exclusive ad sales partner, Podcast Ad Reps, or PAR. “Our goal is to consistently provide our client partners with new content opportunities fit to perform,” says PAR President Rick Selah, “and Starburns is constantly seeking out and launching compelling podcasts highly valued by the 300+ brands we work with.” Adds Selah, “Our company values, internal processes, and cultures align perfectly with Starburns, and we’re excited to continue helping them build their podcast catalog to the next level.”

“Two months ago we went through what felt like an unbearable shock; to us and to all of those who loved him, and especially to his family. I know I personally haven’t had much of a chance to reflect on the moment--there’s just been too much to do, too many people with whom to commiserate-- he had a warm and generous personality,” says Baldinger. “Hopefully, eventually we will be able to properly grieve, and right now we’re just working to continue what we started with Jason. I just hope that he would be proud of us. Thanks to Land for being such a steady, competent hand, to the whole team old and new, to SBI, and to all the talent for sticking by us.”
