Brooklyn NY, USA—Talkhouse, the award-winning media company known for allowing musicians and creative artists to take the reins, has announced a partnership with The New Republic (TNR) as an exclusive producer and distributor of their podcast content. Together, both companies will produce the flagship news magazine podcast titled The Politics of Everything, co-hosted by The New Republic’s literary editor Laura Marsh and staff writer Alex Pareene (formerly editor of Gawker).
Presented as a 45-minute “deeper-dive” into stories from The New Republic’s digital and print editions, The Politics of Everything will cover a range of topics including the American right-wing obsession into nootropic supplements; a thoughtful look at Atlanta homelessness; and a breakdown on such emerging technologies as how new emojis are added to the global registry.
“Talkhouse has been a delight to work with every step of the way. Their technical expertise has been invaluable, and they’ve been integral to the whole process, from story generation to final edits” said Emily Cook, The New Republic’s Editorial Director. “As veterans of the industry, they are ideal partners for a magazine with prodigious material to draw from but as yet a short history in podcasting.”
“With roots dating back over 100 years, The New Republic’s legacy of discussing progressive concepts and challenging popular opinion is a perfect fit for the Talkhouse brand,” explained Ian Wheeler, Co-founder and Publisher. “I’ve been a longtime reader and fan of the publication— as well as of Alex and Laura—and we felt that during such a fascinating and challenging time in politics this partnership was both timely and made sense for us both.”
The Politics of Everything is now available across major podcast platforms such as Apple, Stitcher, and Spotify. Listeners can tune into the podcast on Talkhouse’s platform; and while there they can listen to indie icon Feist’s series Pleasure Studies and The Talkhouse Podcast, which offers exclusive insights into the minds of creators across all genres and generations.
