Mental health podcast reaches 150 episodes

Press Release ·

A podcast about the highly stigmatised mental health condition, hoarding disorder, has reached 250,000 downloads shortly after publishing its 150th episode.

That Hoarder: Overcome Compulsive Hoarding podcast is hosted anonymously, due to the intense stigma and shame associated with hoarding. But its host is reaching listeners around the world and combatting that stigma, one episode at a time.

That Hoarder: Overcome Compulsive Hoarding podcast was the first ever podcast created by somebody who hoards, and That Hoarder takes pride in speaking honestly and vulnerably about the condition. She has interviewed therapists, academics, researchers, children of hoarders, professional organisers and influencers.

“When I launched the podcast, I figured it would just be me talking into my phone to myself and maybe three other people. This achievement really demonstrates that people want and need to hear this perspective and I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved”, That Hoarder said.

Guests have included philosopher Professor Luna Dolezal, academics Dr Jennifer Krafft, Dr Mary Dozier, Dr Hannah Raila and Dr Sharon Morein, professional organisers Tracy McCubbin, Susie Boutal, Jasmine Sleigh and Lesley Spellman, hoarding social enterprise founder Heather Matuozzo, author and influencer KC Davis, therapists Jenna Overbaugh, Laura Silverstein, Vassia Sarantopolou and Sarah Rees, podcaster Paige Pritchard, and regular guest therapist and researcher Dr Jan Eppingstall.
