Universal Music Canada names Julie Adam Executive Vice President and General Manager

Universal Music Canada (UMC), the country’s leading music company, today announced award-winning music and media executive Julie Adam has been named Executive Vice President & General Manager.

The widely respected industry trailblazer has been tapped by UMC Chairman & CEO, Jeffrey Remedios, to lead UMC’s front line operations, overseeing the company’s marketing, digital strategy, commercial affairs, and brand partnership portfolios.

“Julie is an absolute force – she’s an exceptional executive and a passionate, purpose driven leader who has helped shape the Canadian media and entertainment industry. She leads with positivity, inclusivity, and creativity, and cares deeply about artists - as evidenced by her impressive career in service to music,” said Remedios. “I’m so honoured Julie has agreed to join me in leading Universal Music Canada’s outstanding team as we continue to propel our roster of artists to new heights.”

Adam will work alongside Remedios and the executive leadership team to drive UMC’s commitment to breaking world class artists on a global stage, bringing her expertise to all elements of artist strategy, strategic planning, culture building, people leadership, and more.

In over two decades working for Rogers Sports & Media, Adam marked countless achievements for the organization through strategic initiatives that drove increased revenue and operational excellence. Most recently she was President of News & Entertainment overseeing Rogers’ non-sports television, podcasting, and radio business, and the Executive Sponsor of the ALL IN inclusion and diversity program. She has been recognized as Canada’s first female Vice President of Radio Programming and is a past recipient of the Rosalie Award from Radio Trailblazers and the Diversity Champion Award from Women in Communications and Technology.

Adam is the current Chair of CARAS (The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which includes The JUNO Awards, MusiCounts and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame), a member of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Toronto, and author of the leadership book Imperfectly Kind: Why Kindness is the Must-Have Superpower You Need To Lead.
