Auddia released its Q3/24 financials. The company, which makes an ad-skipping radio and podcast app, made a loss of $1.9mn. The financial notes say that the company has a total debt of $87mn, and needs to raise more money to keep trading after Q1/25. It has raised $10.4mn this year so far.

Auddia has added two new features to its radio and podcast player, faidr. It now has visualised chapters (“shows the user where segment breaks are in the episode within the progress bar of the player”), and another feature called Forward+ (“allows a user to skip forward to the end of the segment being played with a single touch”). These features are available in most podcast players, but requires creators to manually add these chapters when publishing. The app also has a paid ad-skipping function.

Auddia, which is working on a podcast app that skips the ads, has done some financial manoeuvring to avoid being taken off the NASDAQ. It’s lost two-thirds of its stock price in the last six months. Earlier this month it gained a patent for ad-skipping live radio.

Auddia, which was to launch ad-skipping for podcasts in January, has announced more details on the service, which will now be launched “later this year”. Participating publishers will receive a payment for each play based on the podcast’s average CPM, while listeners will hear the ads automatically skipped. The company will announce participating publishers in a few weeks; and plan to sell the ad-skipping service to other podcast apps.

After Auddia announced it was to purchase the Radio FM app on Feb 27, detailed why it wanted to buy it on Feb 29, and how it fit into its overall M&A user acquisition strategy on Mar 4, it’s decided not to purchase Radio FM after all. The company had announced it was building a feature that skips ads in podcasts, scheduled to launch Jan 15 in the company’s faidr app; that feature hasn’t yet launched.

Auddia, which launched an ad-skipping podcast app earlier this year, is to purchase radio streaming mobile app Radio FM - if they can afford it. “Closing the acquisition remains subject to financing the acquisition cost”, which is $15mn. Shares fell 17% after the announcement.

Auddia, the company that announced an ad-skipping podcast app last year, has announced a reverse stock split. The company’s share price has dropped 87.5% year-on-year: the “reverse split” will combine 25 shares into one, thus increasing the share price to above the $1 required to remain listed on NASDAQ. It’s currently $0.16, falling almost 20% on the news.

Auddia has announced it will automatically remove ads from podcasts in its app, called faidr, in early 2024. The company says it will launch with the top 200 most popular shows, and will initially bundle ad-free shows into its $5.99/month plan. Users can also request additional shows for future commercial-free listening.

A new podcast app could strip out the ads from podcasts - and share the money with creators. Auddia is using AI to remove ads from AM/FM stations and could offer the same for podcasts too, it says.

There's plenty more of that in the press release, including upcoming de novo MAU growth data, and promises to reduce current burn.

Businesswise has raised $150,000 to further build their podcast ad marketplace focused on B2B marketing. The company also owns ad agency Podmuse … meanwhile, Auddia Inc, which owns radio and podcast app Faidr, has closed a stock offering raising $3.1mn.

AI company Auddia has submitted a patent application for AI use in audio, including podcasting and music. The Executive Chairman of Auddia is Jeff Thramann, who has a number of patents related to audio and radio under the company's previous name, Clip Interactive Inc.
