The BBC will compete against independent audio producers for more BBC shows, according to trade body AudioUK in a statement. The changes include both BBC Sounds commissions, and those for the BBC's radio stations.

The nominations were announced for the UK's Audio Production Awards. The hosts of the event, on Nov 22, were announced as Pod Save the UK's Nish Kumar and Coco Khan. In the UK, the Audio Production Awards 2023 have been announced by organisers AudioUK. The Awards are opening earlier this year to give producers more time to enter. One category, Grassroots Production, will be free, to recognise the particular challenges faced in that sector.

Steve Carsey has taken over as Chair of Audiotrain, the training and skills initiative run by producers’ trade body AudioUK which increases skills and knowledge for audio production professionals making podcasts, radio and audiobooks. He also runs Storyglass, the podcast studio at Bertelsmann.

The UK has a new trade body for UK audio production companies: AudioUK's launch has been welcomed by government and industry organisations. AudioUK used to be known as the Radio Independents Group, and already has over a hundred member companies.
