Libsyn bought Julep Media, a German podcast advertising company, in Aug 2022; but it’s emerged that Julep Media is now independent again, after the original Julep management team bought the company back in March. David Mossler is the new CEO. Julep’s podcast hosting has been spun off to a new company called Audiorella, run by Christian Rymarenko, former Julep COO.

Exclusive: A podcast app that skips ads has been launched. Adblock Podcast is built by Micah Engle-Eshleman, who charges listeners to skip ads, and shares that revenue with podcast creators. The service also caches audio to avoid negatively impacting advertisers who pay per impression. We have the first interview with Micah in today’s edition of the Podnews Weekly Review, to learn how it works, and what its future is.

Libsyn's AdvertiseCast has signed a new exclusive ad partnership with podcast producer Big IP Media … iHeart has signed a strategic partnership with LinkedIn and the LinkedIn Podcast Network … meanwhile, in France, Audion has signed Engle and Slate France to use Audion360, the company's podcast distribution and monetisation tool.

In France, Audion has launched Audion360, a tool which claims it's the first to merge a podcast CMS, a text-to-speech solution for print publishers, and an integrated proprietary advertising platform. It has already signed a number of French podcast publishers, including Slate and Engle.

Adblock Podcast is a forthcoming service, promising to "detect and skip ads on all iTunes podcasts". The project's owner, Micah Engle-Eshleman from Portland OR, USA, plans to charge listeners for the service: the claim is that it will share revenue with podcast makers instead, though he admits "To be honest, I haven’t figured out this last part yet."

We're... not entirely sure what the company is announcing here. Megaphone tells us that the Spotify Audience Network is not launching there yet; and we're told the platform will continue to be only available in English. It doesn't appear to include any local support (support is "through email or chat"); and we can only find one Megaphone staff member in these countries on LinkedIn: that person is not a new hire. Further, Engle, a French podcast publisher, signed with Megaphone 16 months ago.

Dior Untold is a new scripted podcast for the luxury brand Dior, that "takes us behind the scenes of the Maison Dior and its unique savoir-faire." From Engle, it's available in English et aussi en Français.

Parisian podcast publisher Engle, which makes shows in French and English, has partnered with Megaphone for distribution and monetisation.

Thanks to French podcast studio Engle, who have launched a new 2,600 square-foot production facility in the heart of Paris. The space will also house creative residences for authors, journalists, scriptwriters and copywriters enabling in-house development of innovative concepts and original content in several languages. Engle have thirty shows in development, according to founder François Cusset.

Ahead of Luminary, French subscription podcast app Sybel launches today. It plans to be a subscription platform (€4.99 / US$5.60 a month). They raised €5m / US$5.6m at the end of last year. The service launches with an exclusive podcast, Gurus, focusing on true stories from powerful gurus around the world. Narrated by Mélanie Doutey, with an original music score composed by Nova Materia, it's produced by Engle.

As the World Cup reaches its conclusion this weekend, Out of Play is a new podcast from Engle, highlighting the impact of the Football World Cup, but on the social and economic side. The podcast is also a vailable in French, as Lot 11.
