In the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority has released new guidance on making ads clear in podcasts. Use the phrase “This is sponsored by...” or “This is a paid-for advertisement for...”, the self-regulator says. It’s similar to FTC guidelines in the US.

Podtrac is measuring more podcasts than ever: Livewire reports its tracking code was in 8.6% of all episodes released in July. Meanwhile, the use of trackers from Audacy's Podcorn has almost halved in just two months.

Audacy, which owns Cadence13, Pineapple Street Studios, Podcorn and Moonbeam, is to be delisted from the stock market for having an "abnormally low" share price. The company plans to appeal. $200 invested in Audacy this time last year would be worth just over $10 today.

Audacy reported their financial results for Q3/21. The company, which owns Cadence13, Pineapple Street Studios and Podcorn, said in an investor call that it made around $16m in revenue from podcasting - 4.8% of the total company's income.

Entercom, which owns Cadence13, Pineapple Street Studios, Podcorn and CBS Radio, has changed its name. "Part audio, part audacious, part odyssey", the new name is Audacy. As part of that, RADIO․COM is no more: they've rebranded it Audacy as well. You can get your podcast into that app; our big list of podcast directories includes them. The stock market likes it: shares rose by 5.2%.

Entercom has acquired Podcorn, valuing the company at $22.5m. Entercom, a US radio broadcaster, owns Cadence13 and Pineapple Street Studios. Podcorn gives advertisers access to podcasters. In 2016 Google purchased the founders' previous company, FameBit, for $36m.

Podomatic has announced two new partnerships with Podcorn and Whatfor Apparel - allowing monetisation for any sized podcast on the platform. Podomatic will forward any commission direct to the podcaster.

Podcorn, a self-service marketplace connecting podcasters with advertisers for native sponsorships, is announcing new partnership deals with podcast hosts Buzzsprout, Podomatic, RSS, Captivate and Omny Studio. Podcorn claims to have done thousands of campaigns with tens of thousands of podcast creators.

There are more than 700,000 podcasts, but only 15% are making money - according to Podcorn, a new self-service advertising platform which has launched today. Podcorn promises to "streamline podcaster discovery and provide the tools to run native podcast ads at scale". The product has a good ancestor - it has been built by the founders of FameBit, a service which allowed YouTubers to connect with brands: Google thought it was so good, they bought it.

Podcorn, a self-service platform for sponsorships, launched earlier this month after $2.2m of funding. "Only a small portion of podcast creators are able to monetize, and it’s a manual and tedious process for brands to find the right podcasters to collaborate with directly," says Agnes Kozera, a co-founder, highlighting the opportunity for Podcorn.
