    Two Guys, Five Rings: Matt, Bowen & The Olympics is new from iHeartMedia and NBCUniversal - hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Bowen Yang and Actor/Comedian Matt Rogers. The team break down the top storylines, discuss the athletes to watch and their results, obsess over Paris culture and find out what really goes on in the Olympic Village. It's part of an iHeartMedia and NBCU collaboration for the Olympics.

    One of the largest branded podcast companies in North America, Pacific Content, a division of Canada’s Rogers, is to close. The company, which was founded in 2014, was bought by Rogers in 2019. “With economic challenges in this market over the past few years, we’ve decided to focus on our core audio business – creating meaningful content for Canadian audiences and advertisers,” said a spokesperson. We’re told that the impacted team members are all those who worked on and supported Pacific Content directly (a mix of content and administrative roles); most team members are based in Vancouver.

    From iHeartPodcasts, Ruthie’s Table 4 returns for a new season with renowned chef and restaurateur Ruth Rogers, the owner of The River Cafe in London. The all-new season will feature prominent guests including Will Ferrell, Ralph Fiennes, Guy Ritchie, Fisher Stevens, J.J. Martin and others.

    Matt Mise has been appointed as Director, Podcasting & Head of Pacific Content at Rogers Sports & Media. He's been with Rogers for more than four years, leading branded content and commercial integrations.

    In Canada, Julie Adam has left Rogers Sports & Media. She had worked for the company for almost twenty-four years. It means a new boss for the as-yet announced new head of Pacific Content: they'll report to Janice Smith, the VP of Sales.

    Dan Misener and Jonas Woost are to leave Pacific Content. Misener had been with the company for six years as Director of Audience Development; Woost had been with the company for nearly three years. Pacific Content's co-founders both left the company at the end of April; the company was acquired by Rogers, a Canadian media conglomerate, in May 2019.

    In Canada, Rogers Media is running Canada's Next Great Podcaster across its radio stations: a competition to win CAD $10,000 and get your show idea produced. Caution, though: Matt Cundill pointed out to Podnews that the rules let Rogers use any of your ideas they like (even if you don't win) without giving you a penny (¶7d); it might not really be $10,000 (¶9a); and the draw is entirely random anyway and nothing to do with your entry (¶10).

    The Canadian media conglomerate Rogers Media has acquired Pacific Content, Canada's first branded podcast company. In a blog post, Steve Pratt explains more. "The company will join Rogers and report in through our radio division but will continue to operate as a stand-alone business," says Julie Adam, Senior Vice-President of Rogers Radio.

    In Canada, the CBC launches its daily news podcast on Monday. Called Front Burner, it is hosted by Jayme Poisson, as we reported on 1 Aug. Rogers has been running The Big Story as a daily news podcast since June; and Corus's weekly This is Why launched at a similar time.

    In Canada, CBC News has announced that it is to release a daily podcast: "an essential daily download that gives listeners a shortcut to deeper understanding of the news". The podcast, as yet un-named, will be hosted by Jayme Poisson, an investigative reporter who joins the broadcaster from the Toronto Star. Its competition is Rogers's The Big Story and Corus's This is Why.
