First covered in Podnews way back in March, Shure have released the MVX2U, a way to turn any XLR microphone into a USB one. The tool works with the ShurePlus Motiv app, allowing in-built EQ and compression.

Microphone manufacturer Shure is building the Shure MVX2U, a small attachment to turn any XLR microphone into a USB-C device. It's compatible with the company's Motiv desktop application for compression and EQ. Hank, from Free Podcast Tools, has found the manual for the as-yet unlaunched product.

Shure has released the Shure MV7x, a version of the MV7 with just an XLR connection. Bandrew Scott says, in a review, that "the XLR output sounds 10x better than the XLR output on the original MV7". The company recently sponsored a category in the International Women's Podcast Awards.

What's behind the year-over-year decrease in podcast downloads for June 2021? Podtrac posts a blog, confirming what we reported on July 2 - a bug in Apple Podcasts has resulted in at least a 20% dip in downloads on the platform. The fix was rolled out on July 20; so you'll see big increases in August: and, really, they were up 5%, they say.

Shure have launched the Shure MV7 microphone. US$249, it gets a glowing review in Forbes. With XLR and USB output and an app to help control it, it's based on the Shure SM7B used by Michael Jackson, Joe Rogan, and Roman Mars.
