    Somethin'Else, the podcast and radio producer bought by Sony Music Entertainment in 2021, is to pull out of making 18 different radio shows for the BBC. The Media Podcast reported that other programme producers have also pulled out, saying that BBC production budgets - at a reported £800 for a two-hour music show - are too small to be viable.

Hosted by journalist and executive producer Bijan Stephen, Eclipsed is a show about events most people have forgotten — or maybe never even knew about to begin with — like a disappearing lake in Louisiana, the two brothers whose obsession with precious metal nearly crashed the global economy, and the three Americans who went to the Moscow Olympics in defiance of Jimmy Carter’s boycott.

    We misread an announcement about Bad Blood: The Final Chapter yesterday - it's actually a brand new podcast looking at the Theranos scandal, and it'll actually be released in a week's time, on Aug 26. It's still produced by Three Uncanny Four for Sony Music Entertainment, though: and we regret the error.

    One example of how the Spotify/Anchor news might make things better for listeners: My 90s Playlist is a new show from Sony Music Entertainment, with the first episode featuring a deep dive into TLC's No Scrubs. The 3'34" song itself, on a Sony Music record label, is played for less than two minutes on the podcast, and continually talked-over by the hosts, music and pop culture enthusiasts Tracy Clayton and Akoto Ofori-Atta, apart from one 25-second clip. To hear the song in full - on Spotify at least - would, surely, be a good thing.
