An integration between Patreon and Spotify has been announced, allowing all creators to offer patron-only content to Spotify listeners. "You can connect your Spotify and Patreon accounts to access patron-exclusive podcasts right where you’re already listening to your favorite audio content," the company says; Supporting Cast and Supercast are also supported in the Spotify app.

First look: TED Audio Collective has signed with Supercast to offer paid subscriptions for TED Talks Daily. TED members will be able to enjoy a premium ad-free version of TED Talks Daily, plus all of the existing perks they get with TED membership, like exclusive programming, social events, and more. Supercast works in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and many other apps.

Spotify has updated its list of partners for Spotify Open Access, a method to make subscription content available on Spotify. It's now supported by subscription platforms Supporting Cast, Supercast, Memberful, Hello Audio, Audiomeans, and Vriend van de Show.

Spotify says: "As shared in the announcement, we're activating those partners on a rolling basis – to mention just a few that have already been announced as live since July, we have rolled out Supercast, Slate Plus, Pushkin Industries and Mamamia. We have no new specifics to share right now, but expect to hear more from us in the near future!"

First look: Supercast has opened their integration with Spotify Open Access, which enables publishers to offer gated content within Spotify's app. It's the first subscription platform to offer the Spotify Open Access integration to all its users.

Paid podcast subscriptions seem to be having a moment: Breaking Points, a podcast and YouTube show, has seen 10,000 paying subscribers in just two days using Supercast. The company tells Podnews that their top ten podcasters are earning more than $9 million in annual recurring revenue from paid subscribers on the platform; and that their growth rate is outperforming Substack's early published milestones.

Investor Andrew Wilkinson says he's removing podcasts from his phone: "podcasts are mostly people repeating ideas you already agree with or talking about things that trigger anxiety", he says. Wilkinson is co-founder of Tiny Capital, which invests in iOS podcast app Castro, podcast membership platform Supercast, and podcast producer Ride Home Media.

Exclusive: Listener support platform Supercast has announced it's achieved $2m in seed funding. The company has also announced a new CEO, Jason Sew Hoy, who joins from 99designs. In a personal blog post, Jason says "what really grabbed me was the passion economy movement and realizing just how big an opportunity most podcasters are missing." The company will be using its investment to hire a remote team.

A new podcast host, Supercast launches today, promising in a blog post to make it easy for any podcaster to switch to a subscription model. The platform handles payment, and subscriber feeds are available in the majority of podcast apps. The system also watches for "feed fraud", where paid-for RSS feeds are shared with others. Supercast is also in Product Hunt today.
