The Podcast Show, which took place over the last two days in London (and continues with live shows tonight and tomorrow), is on track for total attendance of 10,000 people across the festival according to organisers. At The Podcast Show, Pod Save the UK host Nish Kumar discussed the concept of impartiality in news coverage: in the UK, broadcast media is required by law to be impartial. "It's a noble aim, but social media has changed perceptions," he said, adding that audiences are tired of impartial phrasing being used to sanitise, or even minimise, some peoples' actions.

Edison Podcast Metrics UK will be the first podcast ranker in the country, and will use a quarterly survey of at least 2,000 weekly podcast listeners. The company's release includes indicative data of the top five shows (none of which are from the BBC); the first full set of data will be unveiled for subscribers in Q3.

Wondery is streaming some shows in Dolby Atmos. You'll need to be a Wondery+ subscriber to listen. It's claimed that this is the first podcast experience in Dolby Atmos; CurtCo's Solar was mastered in Dolby Atmos and was released on Mar 30; and JBM launched the first Dolby Atmos-equipped studio in the Middle East at the beginning of last month. It's less than a month to go until The Podcast Show 2022 in London, on May 25-26. The website currently lists 196 speakers (more on the way). Speaking to the Podland podcast yesterday, Tom Billington said that YouTube will be a partner at the event, sponsoring the "Talking Podcasts" stages. YouTube say it will "facilitate conversations with Podcasters who have found success on YouTube, while also leaning on other platform experts to help delegates understand best practices and the various podcast trends emerging on and off-YouTube."

A major new podcasting event has been announced, in London, UK. The Podcast Show will be held in May 2021, and will welcome 6,000 attendees over two days. The organisers plan 250 speakers and a 'fringe' set of events nearby. Tickets go on sale in October. We've more events over here.
