Acast and the BBC have renewed their agreement for monetising the BBC’s podcasts outside the UK. The broadcaster saw 246m global podcast downloads in Q3/21, making them one of the biggest publishers in the world.

Start me up: Hot Pie Media Podcast network has launched, claiming an “impressive list of celebrity hosts”, including Jerry Hall, Judge Reinhold, and a set of music specials from the Rolling Stones.

Clubhouse has added pinned links, allowing links to be posted at the top of a room. This would be especially good to share links to your podcast’s website, for example.

The Podcast Show 2022 has announced new partners, including Amazon Music, Sony Music Entertainment, Wondery, Adswizz and Triton Digital. The show will also include a week of live podcast events across London.

Podcasts are making it to more car dashboards, after Lizhi announced that their podcast app has been integrated into Huawei’s HarmonyOS smart car operating system. You can enjoy it in the Mercedes Benz S-Class.

Heart to Heart, a new dating app, has raised $750,000 in funding. It’s an audio-first dating app, using the power (and, yes, intimacy) of the voice.

Go carefully with those endorsement ads, say the FCC - sending a letter to many US companies reminding us not to pretend we’re using a product in an endorsement ad, give fake reviews, or be otherwise deceptive. The fine is an oddly-specific maximum of $43,792 per offence.

Shadow is a new podcast app for iOS which includes SharePlay, so you can listen to a podcast with friends. (It correctly sets both RSS and audio useragents).

Social podcast app Podopolo has changed its terms and conditions. The main changes are adding details of its community guidelines, with clarification that it can remove your podcast if your show violates them (including specific wording about hate crime or violence). It also clarifies that ownership stays with the podcaster, and adds wording about ratings, reviews and SMS texting services.

macOS 12 (Monterey) is now available. Rogue Amoeba apps work with it; Hindenburg Journalist Pro works, though a full test hasn’t been done; Homebrew supports it.
