  • A new Australian Podcast Ranker has been released today. Podcast One’s Hamish and Andy return to #1; the highest new entry is The Lighthouse, a true-crime podcast from News Corp. The Parent Brand (publishers of Kinderling Kids Radio), Schwartz Media (The Saturday Paper) and TOFOP have been announced as new publishers from January 2020. The ranker does not yet include the ABC, the country’s biggest podcaster; and some publishers have told Podnews they have declined to take part.

  • What were some of the hidden gems and guilty pleasures of 2019? The CBC ask some people what they thought (including us).

  • UK podcast company Stabl has acquired Swipe Left Swipe Left, a prominent UK podcast. In the US, the producers of two “ultra-popular” golf shows No Laying Up have signed with Podcast Ad Reps (PAR).

  • In PS: Political Science and Politics, Cambridge University Press have published a series of reflections on how political scientists view podcasting, and what value it can bring to the public:

    A common reaction to my podcast, The Political Theory Review, is “Do the conversations have to be that long?” “Yes” tends to be my answer because, as discussed herein, I think long-form conversations benefit authors and the discipline.

  • Omny Studio’s embedded players are now available in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Malay and Hebrew.
