Britain’s former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been revealed in a podcast as joking about flouting distancing rules: even as he publicly claimed he was unaware rules had been broken. The revelation comes from the UK’s ITV News in a new podcast launched today, called Partygate: The Inside Story.
- It’s notable this is released in a podcast; ITV News produces the main evening news bulletin in the UK on ITV, reaching an average of 3.2m viewers.

The Signal Award winners have been announced. Winners will be celebrated in an award ceremony on Jan 23. The awards, which aim to “celebrate the world’s best podcasts”, have a judging academy based wholly in the US.

“If you are a creator or entrepreneur, there has never been a better time for you,” says Spotify’s Max Cutler in a LinkedIn post today, designed to combat what he calls “pessimistic industry views around the future of podcasting”. However, he predicts that “there will be desperate M&A activity this year as companies with fundamentally bad business models will flirt with going bankrupt.”
