British Podcast Awards - watch the nominations

• The British Podcast Awards, powered by Amazon Music, are about to reveal their nominees: 1pm UK time, 8am New York time, on their website. Hosting the stream are Hannah and Suruthi, the presenters of the popular true crime podcast Redhanded. They’ll also be revealing the in-person location for this year’s awards.

• A month on, we wondered if the new Apple Podcasts systems were still causing anyone any problems. We weren’t prepared for the amount of feedback we’d get.

• PRX has withdrawn its plans to reopen its Podcast Garage in Washington DC: “we’ve come to the difficult realization that a Podcast Garage in D.C. is no longer feasible for our organization”. It had been closed since March. The DC Community Manager, Se’era Ricks, is now an Associate Producer at PRX. The Boston space is expected to reopen this year.

• Fresh from branded podcast research from the Netherlands yesterday, today comes the first branded podcast case study from MENA - looking at the Arabic language Saqr’s Eclipse and how it positively benefited Toyota.

• Audioburst now has one petabyte of indexed talk audio content. From that, which includes podcasts and talk radio, Joe Biden was the person mentioned the most over the last thirty days, and Apple got slightly more mentions than Google.

• Headspace, a “mindful living content” publisher, is to launch an Apple Podcasts Paid Subscriptions channel, offering meditations, sleep music, wind downs and other content. It’ll be $3.99.

• Captivate will reveal Captivate 2.0 on June 3. (Our Editor is on their Advisory Board).
