Canada overtakes US for weekly podcast listening

• Edison Research released the Infinite Dial Canada. Forty-three percent of Canadians 18+ listen to podcasts monthly, up five percentage points from 2021, which means that Canadians now outpace Americans (38%) and Australians (40%) for monthly podcast listening. Downloads here.

• Nomination voting is now open for the 17th Annual People’s Choice Podcast Awards. In 2021 nearly 7 million listeners participated in the awards. Listeners have the entire month of July to vote on 30 categories from a bevy of registered shows that will result in 10 shows per category making the final slate to be announced August 7th.

• July’s MIC’s Podcast Club is a free virtual event, all about how to ask your listener for money and joining the live, virtual QnA is Emma from the hit podcast 'Real-Life Ghost Stories’, and Ian from 'Cold War Conversations’ who between them have thousands of Patreon supporters. It’s on 13 July. They also have an in-person summer social coming up.

• Blubrry is working on a media kit generator tool for their customers to send to media buyers, and pre-roll programmatic advertising.

• Libsyn has added a new distribution point - Resso, a music streaming service available in Brazil, Indonesia and India.

• The music industry podcast Spotlight On has joined Osiris Media, it has been announced - and launches its seventh season next week.

• Libsyn’s AdvertiseCast report $23.97 as the average CPM within their marketplace for June. That’s up year-on-year ($23.43), and month-on-month ($23.83).

Brown Girls Do It Too, an award-winning podcast from the BBC, returns for a new season today. Hosted by Poppy Jay and Rubina Pabani, the podcast includes detailed and honest discussions of their sex lives, messy realities, fantasies, sexpectations and navigating life and relationships as British Asian Women.
