Canadian radio to broadcast podcasts

• In Canada, Corus radio stations have launched The Curiouscast Podcast Hour, airing a weekly show with a different podcast episode every week from the company. It’ll be hosted by Chris “Dunner” Duncombe, the Director of Podcasting and Streaming for Corus Entertainment, and aired on GLobal News stations. The company owns 39 stations in eight of Canada’s top ten markets.

• NBC has launched five podcasts around the Tokyo Olympics, and the NBC Olympics Apple Podcasts channel. The Podium and In The Village will both be daily.

• Podcorn’s CEO is interviewed for an advertorial in MediaVillage about earning money with podcasts. The company, owned by Audacy, has 48,000 podcasters using their platform.

• BetterHelp is still the US’s biggest podcast advertiser, says Magellan AI, with NBCUniversal (Peacock) a distant #2. They have a market update webinar today at 11am ET.

• Libsyn announced a partnership with Canva, to help podcasters produce show and episode art.

• macOS Big Sur 11.5 has been released. The 3.84GB of download will give you minor enhancements to the Podcasts app, a bugfix for Apple Music, and fixes something you won’t have noticed that was broken with some smart cards that you don’t use.
