Election season starts for podcasting

  • As the US’s first election contest of 2024 takes place, news podcasters have flocked to Des Moines IA, like Brad Mielke, the host of ABC News’ flagship daily podcast Start Here, seen here recording yesterday’s episode from his hotel room “studio”. It’s said that podcasting will benefit with increased ad revenue during the election period; if this image is anything to go by, so will pillow manufacturers. Elections are also planned this year in the UK and India.

  • Flightpath, a yield prediction and ad optimization platform, has unveiled a 12-month prediction feature, delivering a full year of trusted campaign projections across all shows on the platform.

  • Making a factual or documentary podcast? The Whickers are open for entry: the deadline is Feb 25. Selected projects are invited to pitch in person during the festival in June and there is a first prize of £5000 and a second one of £2000, to be awarded by an independent audio professional jury.
