Facebook Podcasts coding issue leads to inflated numbers

• Exclusive: Facebook Podcasts may not be as big as you think. A coding error means that it’s making thousands of bogus partial downloads, and one major podcast hosting company is not filtering these out from its stats.

• Stitcher released data for 2021, showing their consumption data and, separately, data from a creator survey. 41% of larger independent podcasters earn revenue from paid membership platforms like Memberful, Patreon, Glow or others.

• Sounds Profitable and Magellan AI have made a new update for their Podscape - a look at all the companies in podcasting today.

• HT Media has launched India’s first programmatic ad marketplace, working with AdsWizz. The company says that Indian podcast listeners will rise to 170m by 2023, which would overtake the total number of US listeners.

• Squadcast has posted its 2021 year in review; and if you’re a fan of remote recording companies posting their year in review, ZenCastr has also done so.
