  • Geoff Lloyd and Annabel Port, until earlier this year a fixture on the UK’s Absolute Radio and Virgin Radio, launch their new podcast next week. Called Adrift, there’s a teaser episode up now. “A comic tragedy for anyone flailing in the sea of their own inadequacy.”

  • UK podcast A Gay & A NonGay has been nominated for an award. A good example of podcasts being used for subject matter that probably wouldn’t have made it to broadcast media.

  • A perfect alarm-clock radio for people who enjoy podcasts: the Richter WAKE includes a charge port and a one-tap Bluetooth connection. A review.

  • Even the best sometimes get it wrong: Radiolab removes its latest episode after complaints.

  • Latest US podcast publishers chart, from Podtrac. Relatively flat for July vs June, with the only increases coming from publishers who’ve added episodes.

  • Canada’s top podcast, confusingly named Stop Podcasting Yourself, is celebrating 500 episodes. Vancouver-based.

  • HotPod 132 is out. Nick discusses the NYC podcast-capital-of-the-world thing we linked-to yesterday.

  • Podcast discovery service Stabl offered a set of recommendations, sorted in time order: the theory was that if you had 30 minutes spare, it would find you some great content. They’ve dropped the time element after research, will no longer update their iOS app, and will focus on more recommendations.

  • Meetup: We’re in Melbourne on Friday. Details in Monday’s podnews. If this goes well, we’ll be in London, Vancouver and Vienna in September; if not, we’ll just be quiet.
