  • Gimlet Media have raised another US$15m, reports Recode, in a long piece saying how small podcasts are, expressing doubt at the research, and saying the industry’s too small for VCs to really care about.

  • SoundCloud is about to “sell stakes” to a bank and the Singaporean state’s investment firm, says Bloomberg. Should stabilise the company.

  • Buzzfeed writes SoundCloud’s obituary and explains where it all went wrong and “how it all came crashing down”. Premature or not, there are some useful learnings here for any product.

  • The word “podcast” will now outlast the product it was made for: Apple have now removed all iPods from their online store. “What does the 'pod’ in 'podcast’ mean, Daddy?”

  • HotPod 130 is published. Reading time 15 minutes, 56 seconds. Focuses on NPR’s science podcast for kids, ABC Australia’s Kellie Riordan, and politics podcasts.

  • “Taboo podcasts” get coverage in the New York Times: featuring Where should we begin?, Terrible, thanks for asking, and Conversations with people who hate me.
