Tips and tricks from Guy Raz
Guy Raz of How I Built This, TED Radio Hour, Wow in the World, The Great Creators, Wisdom from the Top and The Rewind, and Cofounder of Tinkercast, shares with us five tips for podcasters.
- 1) When interviewing someone, LISTEN and RESPOND. Don’t just go to the next question.
- 2) Do your homework and really learn about the person before the interview. You will get more out of them.
- 3) Spend ten minutes on getting your sound right. You don’t need a fancy microphone. Just find a quiet room, put down a rug, line the shelves with books (for better acoustics) and keep close to the mic!
- 4) Don’t waste a listener’s time with inside jokes or only things you and the guest understand. Make sure you keep the listener in mind during the interview.
- 5) Always remember: you are making audio in service to the listener. They are your customer. And you must deliver content that is worthy of their time and attention.
