iVoox builds Spanish podcast ad marketplace

• iVoox has launched the first native podcast advertising marketplace in Spanish. Podcasters choose their pricing and formats; iVoox connects them with proposals.

• Apple Podcasts on the upcoming iOS 14.5 release will automatically show the release schedule for shows. “Apple’s implementation of this feature seems to be a bit unreliable”, says 9to5Mac - it’s recognised ours as daily, though.

  • Apple is to spend $200m on climate change work, they’ve announced; but still no climate category.

• Canadian production company Cream Productions has launched its own podcast division. Their debut show, Behind the Desk: The Story of Late Night, goes live next week.

• Resonate launched a Remote Recorder that lets you record high-fidelity local audio. You can remotely record your podcast, manage the editing, mixing, and mastering, and host your podcast in one app.

• Warner Music Group and Spotify announced a new partnership which will see the two companies develop a series of original podcasts built around WMG’s artists’ and songwriters’ catalogs.

• Podcast hosting company Libsyn is a GARP, according to Adam Wilk from Greystone Capital - “Growth At A Reasonable Price”. Speaking on the Yet Another Value Podcast, he criticises the company’s recent growth rates, however, and says he will “have to assess how much damage the lack of effort toward the product and the customer has hurt them”.

• TVEyes has added podcast listenership data from Podchaser to its service. The company “allows brands to measure the effectiveness of their PR efforts and also analyze the impact from podcast news mentions”.

• Audioboom suggests that advertisers get $400m a year of additional value from podcast live-reads, because podcasters just keep on talking about products.

• Comments made by a podcast guest have cost him $500,000 in a defamation suit. The Action Network, which publishes The Favorites Sports Betting Podcast, also settled with the complainant out of court.

• A man called Tom Lum in 2018 made a YouTube video called The Apple Podcast App is UX garbage, which for some reason was shared on Hacker News today. It’s quite good.
